Breed Overview

The Welsh Springer was originally created in Wales as a hunting dog. They are a medium-sized sporting spaniel that is Partially favored by the British Royal family. The Welsh Springer stands 19-20 inches tall and weighs 40-45 pounds. Their short coats come in liver, and white shades and have a wavy texture.

Care and Grooming

The Welsh Springer Spaniel should not require much grooming. Regular brushing with a rubber brush will help keep its coat and skin healthy. It is a good idea to keep the nails trimmed and check the ears for wax build-up.

Training and Socialization

It is important to start training and socializing as early as possible with a Welsh Springer Spaniel as they can be difficult to train later on. Gentle obedience classes, puppy agility classes, and socialization with other dogs and people are key for a well-mannered pet.
